Surprise Me!

Dr John Celes - The First Guava Fruit

My guava plant had buds, flowers;
I nurtured it with patience great;
I longed to taste the plant's first fruit;
And lo! I saw a fruit unripe!

But when I scanned the plant next day,
Alas! I saw just leaves and leaves;
The fruit I thought I could devour
Was nibbled by a squirrel hungry!

The devil was faster than me;
But the poor beast's hunger was much more;
Why fret and fume, curse o'er small things?
Nothing's lost by losing a chance.

If you can think more of others,
You'll learn more truths and live well, life.
