I woke up this morning,
Shut the alarm,
Brushed my teeth,
Took a shower,
It had already been an hour,
Started the car,
Thank god for heated seats,
Turned on the radio,
I was already falling asleep!
Walked into my office,
Had my stethoscope in hand,
So reliable is this Littman brand,
Stared at the clock,
It was only 6 a.m. on the dot,
I love what I do,
I do it well,
Surgery is gratifying,
In a nutshell
Made my rounds,
Went into the Operating Room,
Cured the patient from imminent doom,
Took a ten minute break,
But got beeped for an emergency,
Here we go again,
Oh, goodness sake!
Miraculously, it was time for lunch,
I would get beeped again,
I knew it, I just had a hunch,
Ate my tasteless sandwich,
Chugged a can of coke,
It was only 12: 15, is this a joke? !
It's been a busy day so far,
My thoughts just need a minute to soak,
I love what I do,
I do it well,
Surgery is gratifying,
In a nutshell
Tension and Stress in the operating room
This is not easy, indeed,
Trying to save a patient,
Doing your job, doing your deed,
Looking for that gratification,
Every second, every minute, every hour,
This scalpel embodies immense power,
It was 11 p.m., time to go home,
Another late night,
Guess I'll be eating dinner alone,
This job is demanding, no doubt
It illustrates respect and perseverance,
Frustrated, sometimes I shout,
Regardless, at the end of the day.....
I love what I do,
I do it well,
Surgery is gratifying,
Indeed, in a nutshell! !
