Why are my dreams so dull
There are ghosts searching for
Corpses in the holes aplenty
In the walls smothered with bullets;
Why I can’t face the mornings
The papers holler about people
Going wrong and chewing
Raw meat of tender girls;
Why is this storm brewing
In my cup of morning tea
When my eyes fall on the butchered
Body of a young lover fighting
Enemy in the land unknown;
Or I am mistaken;
My grey hair has not kept pace
With the sun that simmers harsher
In each passing day reminding
Me of my being immature;
Thanks world
I won’t take you into my heart.
