My restless heart,
creeping from its cavity
to the silent corridors of predawn-
A crackled white bulb of moon
hangs in the denim night's blue-
A lone friend in these unending wakeful hours.
Her stationary perch, a tended vigil,
and still this heart wanders-
Baleful imaginings of your
face against the gloom.
And each dull ache is refreshed anew-
My prowling heart will see
the gaudy sun ascend
and dream eternally
of daylight's end.
