Maya Angelou never gone
Just somewhere else
Deep dark tonality
Gritty forceful
Voice of superb blackness
her highness
Above us
in acknowledgement
of undefined truth
Life and its weighted burden
The foundation has fallen
and tears are flooding
Weight of the burden in her eyes
The future and the past collide
within the secret heart
Our ears welcome her words that
Wake us sweet poetess
Beautiful one
We have learned
So much from you
Maya Angelou
You have made us
See ourselves more clearly!
