The trouble it seems 
Is that two people who open their 
Hearts also open the closet  
The hidden sensitivities underneath 
The daily conscience that lurks 
Quietly waiting to spring out 
Against the wakeful intention  
Darkening the clear sky 
Dangerously close to ruin 
In a society untrained for deep  
Emotions rendering expendable  
Consequences tearing apart  
The core of love destroying 
Each other while defending 
The past that has no business  
Perpetrating reality like a ghost 
Bringing fear insecurity even death 
Into what was a hopeful union 
Of those two hearts 
Like children playing with matches 
Unaware of the fuses that will ignite 
The flames of death.
