Surprise Me!

Emily Beck - That's Funny When You Hear It Out Loud.

That impermeable shell of sorrow and self-pity.
It drips a veil of tears around your face,
Crystallizing water molecules around your heart.
Because all you ever wanted had the chance to walk away
And took it.

The weight of 'blame' is heavy.
You're the only one who can feel it.
Insects eating holes in sand dunes,
And you expect it not to crumble.

A silly, backwards beast has conquered the mountain
Knees bent inwards, saliva rolling upwards.
No sense of sound nor touch,
Dwelling deeply inside itself.
Swaying as it falters.

Tectonic plants crash, crumble and sink.
A spinning ball of mostly empty space.
We hardly even exist.
