Aniruddha Pathak - The letter and spirit of law

2014-06-18 9 Dailymotion

My optimism lending a long rope,
It made me sing this rosy li’le quatrain:
If there be thing called letter of the law—
Impostor of old school nasty as naïve,
Man too has ‘nough spirit from which to draw
To keep a fair justice flowing alive.

But passive soon did turn my fragile hope,
And this sextet began to sing in vain:
Today there is naught but letters of law—
That we call jesters or impostors naïve,
They alone triumph singing their lone song;
Spirit seems bottled to mature and grow,
And justice, struggling to stay alive,
On deathbed is, and in prayers for long!

The first two lines of the two stanzas
correspondingly rhyme abab. The next four
cdcd, and the sextet rhymes efgefg— a
peculiar sonnet scheme.
