of the Seventh Cavalry Regiment were 
that summer day in 1876 
 
George loved battle as much as he did 
his Libby - her stunning beauty evident 
in the daguerreotype that survives 
 
Libby lingered long 
after that fateful day in Montana 
remembering the man 
who loved too well 
the sound and smell 
of battle
