Sylvia Froos was born in New York in 1914. In '21 her mother managed to get her accepted to Kid's Cabaret, a vaudeville troup of youngsters. She became a child star known as Baby Sylvia due to her baby voice recordings and singing appearances on radio in the 1920s. Success took her to the Palace Theater in New York where she shared the stage with the Marx Brothers and that success again furthered her career to touring with vaudeville performers over the US.
The Vitaphone Company made 10 minute "soundies" and in 1927 she appeared in one of those called "The Little Princess of Song" and she was tagged with that moniker forever after. From 1932 to '37 she had bit parts in 7 movies and one starring role. The most successful was Stand Up and Cheer, 1934, with Shirley Temple, when Sylvia received a higher billing than Shirley. While all of this was happening, Sylvia had her own NBC radio show in the 1930s and was also recording for Victor Records and crown Recordings.. She continued to record until 1950 and in her later years, her love of travel took her aboard many an ocean liner where she would perform. Baby Sylvia died at her New York home at age 89.
