“Prawn and Beef Japchae”
Lee Jin-ho shares his personal favorite recipe: Korean sweet potato noodles “japchae,” learned from his mother and restaurateur. The dish was reportedly the second best seller at her restaurant in New Zealand. Famous for its sweet taste, japchae is one of the most popular Korean noodle dishes enjoyed by Koreans and foreigners alike. ■ Ingredients
100g beef
3 shiitake mushrooms, sliced
10g black mushrooms, sliced
10 steamed prawns
1/2 onion, sliced
1/2 cucumber, sliced
2 egg yolks
1ts pine nuts
2 sprigs of chives
30g dangmyeon (sweet potato noodles)
pepper and crushed sesame
Beef marinade:
1 TS soy sauce
1/2 TS sugar
1 TS sesame oil
pepper
Dangmyeon (noodles) seasoning:
1 TS soy sauce
1 TS sugar
1 TS sesame oil

“Bulgogi Salad”
For fans of grilled marinated beef “bulgogi,” Seri’s recipe is a healthier version with vegetables and fruit. It’s a refreshing taste you won’t want to miss.
■ Ingredients
200g beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced
Beef marinade:
2 TS soy sauce
2 TS water
1 TS sugar
1/2 TS white wine
1 TS green onion, chopped
1/2 TS garlic, minced
sesame oil and pepper
Salad:
2 heads of romaine, plain lettuce and bok choy each
a lilttle bit of baby greens
1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
1/4 onion, sliced
few slices of cucumber
few slices of pear
5 pomegranate seeds
olive oil
Salad dressing:
2 TS soy sauce
2 TS sugar
1 TS vinegar
1 TS mustard seeds
1 TS blended lemon
