Various techniques of varnishing had developed in China
since before the Iron Age.
With the influence of China, Korea had also developed lacquer ware since the 3rd century B.C.
There is also a long traditional of lacquer ware in Japan as well.
The start of using a unique resin from a lacquer tree is the same, but the result of it is quite different.
China is famous for the Diao Qi technique, in which their unique color of red comes from.
And in Japan, elaborate techniques using gold or silver have been developed.
On the other hand, in Korea
the 'Najun' technique of using mother-of-pearls has been developed.
