Barricades and tents burned on Kiev’s Maidan square as activists clashed with members of the special police 'Kiev-1' battalion on Thursday, over communal services' attempts to dismantle barricades left on Independence Square as a result of violent protests earlier in the year. Some protesters launched stones and Molotov cocktails at police.
Today's clashes follow months of conflict between the Kiev administration and activists over the future of the camp, and which led to buildings being seized in the city centre.
Earlier on Thursday, communal services reportedly confiscated around 20 boxes containing bottles of flammable liquid while dismantling barricades on the square.
