The development is in line with the various strategic exchanges and fruitful border meetings the forces of the two countries have been having through the Hasina regime. BSF sources said, the stall would be put up by SHIPKS (Simanto Paribar Kalyan Samiti) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Delhi from November 8. A 12-member BGB delegation is reaching Delhi on November 7 to take part in BSF Mela to be held at CGO complex. "The delegation is being led by Dilshad Nahar Aziz, chief patron, SHIPKS. Dilshad is the wife of BGB Chief, Major General Aziz Ahmed, DG, BGB. It's an effort to better our relations with an already friendly country," said a senior BSF officer. The force has roped in director-choreographer Alokananda Roy of Kolkata for the performance of "Gaahi Samyer Gaan" based on the poetries and songs of Kazi Nuzrul Islam.
Nazrul was a Bengali poet, musician and revolutionary who pioneered poetic works espousing intense spiritual rebellion against fascism and oppression. Earlier BSF had also planned a Wagah-border like, but friendly, retreat ceremony at Petrapol on the Eastern border. The ceremony, which was supposed to take place last month but has been postponed, also included performances based on Nazrul's poetry. Apart from this, the mela will showcase unique arts, artefacts and handicrafts from all over the country for display and sale.
