The Eiffel Tower in Paris, one of the world's iconic landmarks, on Monday (October 6 2014) unveiled its revamped first floor offering tourists a new experience with glassed observation areas and segments of transparent floor that give people the impression that they are walking in the sky.
The refurbishment work, the first in almost 30 years for this floor, began in 2012 and cost 30 million euros.
Located 57 metres above the ground, the first floor was the least visited by tourists who considered it less important as it is the least high.
The transparent floor and the new glass balustrade offer an experience of the void underneath that can be scary to some.
