I am a mercenary, the greatest fool of all.
Fighting day and night for a place in Odin’s hall.
Selling my skills for money like a common whore.
I am now part of a horrific war.
As the shelling stopped, I hopped over the trench.
And then it hit me in the nose, death’s horrible stench.
I surveyed the cratered fields, the hellish war torn lands.
Then I saw the trembling sniper, rifle in his hands.
I tried to move, I tried to dodge, but I was far too slow.
The rifle bullet tore through my chest, it was my time to go.
