Once upon a time I made up a little rhyme
And I thought it was just fine.
Wrote it on a piece of paper
And stored it in a drawer.
On one very windy day
I was looking for something
In that same place, forgetting
The paper was there, buried.
It just flew out the window
And I didn't even know
That it would embark on an adventure
Which I'll surely remember.
When I found it was lost
I got sad and thought
'I hope it's returned to me
I really loved it, you see.'
It was a very long time later
When someone knocked on my door.
He said, “I've finally met
The one to whom my heart has set.”
I learned my work left him inspired
He looked for its author all this time.
I'd captured his heart, unknowingly
By my words and their harmony.
That little paper now hangs in a frame
To remind me everyday
That once upon a time I made a little rhyme
And it fetched for me the love of my life.
