Ghetto Girls Don’t Lactate
I was born in the Ghetto addicted to the pipe
once my mother was a woman, no she’s just a hype
Ghetto Girls don’t lactate
they perpetrate
motherhood
I wish I could
Find a rhyme
That speaks of positivity
Possibly…. It’s me
Probably …. It be
The Ghetto …in me
Invincibly …..negative
Society wouldn’t give
A sistah a chance
if she didn’t sing … and dance
And I doubt
I got
A got Damn thang
to sing about
Can’t dance without
nutrition
of my soul
Momma would hold
me to nurse
on breasts so dry
She’d cry
so I
could drink her tears
Try
to know why
my momma was a ghetto girl
addicted to the pipe
once she was a woman
now she’s just a hype
Black babies
with souls that are thin
become black men in the pen
black women who are
hos high on gin
‘cause
Ghetto Girls don’t lactate
they perpetrate
motherhood
but before you
point a finger at my mother
point three back at yourself
and in her worn shoes
walk a mile
for it takes a village to raise
one black child…
