If no one else understands
Not even your man
Or your own children
If no one else understands
Surely a woman can
Because in war, our rights are the first to go
If anyone should avoid political unrest
And strive with a country trying its best
If anyone should avoid political unrest
In a country that is trying its best
The responsibility upon the head should be that of –
Everyone
Why?
Because we all came out of woman
And when unrest comes her rights are the first to go
I am a woman
I like having my rights
I like being able to walk about at night
By myself
I do not want a police or any other state that keeps me prisoner
I like this country
Because in this country I have my rights
I don’t ever want those rights to go away
So please before you speak
Even in drunken stupor
Please remember that you came out of me
Out of woman
And when you wish for violence
My rights, our rights, women’s rights
Are the first
Always the first
The first to go
