Maybe I’ve gone more than a little bit crazy
Maybe my sense of self just got a little lazy
Maybe I really did forget which self I am
Maybe all along I’ve never been that man
Maybe it’s true that my life’s a little maddening
Maybe I’ve gone too long with my incoherent prattling
Maybe none of this will make a bit of sense
Maybe insanity is my very best defense
Maybe not a defense as though under attack
Maybe a defense for the common sense I lack
Maybe all along none of this was ever really true
Maybe, I’m not to judge, I’ll leave that job all to you
