Truth is the mother of sadness in a grieving dog
He has gone or she has left.. its fact, truth
And the dog unheard sighs, its tearless eyes cry
Unseen
Unspoken lamentation is powerful emotion
Packed with retention of memory
A gentle hand, a quiet stroke, a tear of farewell
A scent, a fragrance, a whispered word
Before departure and after- the new hollow world.

One thrusts a mind in the dogs direction
Trying to learn indifference
But there is none as thought
There is however a well hidden melancholy
Betrayed by a cold twitching nose
Deep eyes
And a staring into the beyond
Followed by an ability to wait, watch and listen
Straining beyond measure
Beyond a reasonable sanity.

Truth is the mother of sadness in a grieving dog
And the only blanket it will wear
Until its day of repair
Truth keeps it company
All through the lonely day
And chilly night.
