Surprise Me!

Lee Ann Schaffer - Stolen Dreamer

It drifts gently down on the tips of your ears
Then feather floats inside:
The beckoning whisper.

Lightly gliding from just behind your earlobe
Down the length of your neck:
The silken fingertips.

Saying come run with me across the bridge
Between your land and mine
We’ll escape the waking hours
Behind a glistening web.

Sliding over the front of your shoulder
Inside your arm:
A hungry hand.

Slipping into the center of your opening palm
Between your fingers:
A tender blossom.

Saying come run with me across the bridge
Between your land and mine
We’ll hide away from the world
Behind a glistening web.

Not quite imperceptibly brushing the edge of your cheek
Hesitating then brushing back:
The downy eyelashes.

Placed petal perfect on your lips
Pleading for pleasure:
The velvet kisses.

Saying come run with me across the bridge
Between your land and mine
We’ll weave wild wonders
Behind the glistening web.
