Am I killing the rain forest?
Did I support slave labor today?
I know I didn’t try to stop
The war today,
And I know that I didn’t save an endangered species,
And I didn’t help clean the air,
The water or the earth.
I didn’t thank God for not destroying us,
I didn’t love enough people,
I didn’t forgive enough either.
I didn’t feed the starving children and
I didn’t clothe them either.
I didn’t spread any happiness,
I didn’t save a stray dog.
I didn’t want to live in the world we have,
But I never did much to change it,
And I think that now I may be killing the rain forest,
And supporting slave labor. But hell,
It is America. And we all know what that means.
