How much it hurts when you turn away,
Refusing to look into my eyes,
How it stabs at my heart when words,
The only things I have,
Fall, meaningless, to the floor, unheard.
I wish you knew…
The sting of warm tears against a cold face,
The salty taste of sadness.
The desperate helplessness I feel as my world
Slowly slips from my grasp.
I wish you knew…
How much I need to be a part of your life,
To fall asleep nestled in your warmth.
How empty the nights are when I’m alone,
Sleeping fitfully in a cold bed.
I wish you knew…
How hard it is to find someone
Who loves so deeply,
Hurts so fiercely,
And loves so truly.
Perhaps someday you’ll know…
