I've watched you from a distance.
There's a child I can see in back of your eyes.
She's always clad in calico and rubber band clasped
pig tails.
She has lace socks that long ago lost their pink ribbons.
I envy your innocence.
She has an airy holding place where breathing is easy.
I, like the Arcadian god Pan watch patiently.
I play my shepherds' song and wait for frenzied love.
It will overturn reason and entice you forth
across the boundary.
