I’m not much of a planner.
I didn’t mean to write this poem.
This wasn’t on my plan.
But then, I'm not much of a planner.
I love the fact that you
plan everything in life.
I love the way you plan the day ahead
every morning
in those yellow post-it-notes.
I love the way you post them
In a line of two rows
two columns.
They are smartly laid out
and look perfect.
I love the way you review your plans
every evening when you get home.
I love to see you put an “X” mark
on the plans you managed to execute.
I laugh at how I never see many “X”s on
those little yellow notes.
You are a good planner,
But you never carry out many of them.
I love the way you come with
a bunch of excuses and pretexts
on why the day didn’t go as planned.
I love the way you call me disorganized
and advise me to learn from you.
I love how you ask me to follow
your example, and go with plans.
I laugh at the fact that
You are a good planner
not an executor, and yet
you never know it.
