Should heaven send me any son
I hope he’s not like Tennyson.
I’d rather have him play the fiddle
than rise and bow and speak an idyll.

All words by Dorothy the Parker
inspire me, but mine are darker.

For Siegfried clearly any idyll
is spoiled by presence of a Yidel,
for Wagner must play tennis on
the Sabbath and hunt venison.

The first four lines are Dorothy’s. The rest are not.
