I was angry at The Doors in 1968
when they came out with 'Touch Me'
and it contained a deliberate gammatical error.
'I'm gonna love you, ' Jim sang,
'Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I'
And I thought, how much trouble would it be
for Morrison to change the line to:
'I'm gonna love you
Till the stars fall to the SEA for you and ME! '
See, the 'I' is snotty - 'It is I'
Jim should have said it the rock and roll way, 'It is me.'
That was the moment I realized
it was all going to go wrong
That the hippies were as dumb as anyone
It would always be as it always was
Illiterate, bestial, stupid, and drunk
And the age of sudden beauty
would have to wait a little longer
