Moving slowly up the river,
the sun sliding gradually upwards,
I looked back at this glorious sight
I saw along the streets
the lights,
the people
the Yellow Cabs
the first, fresh stirrings of a Manhattan morning
I wanted to fly
right into the centre of it,
calling out ''I'm here, I'm home''
It looked so beautiful,
so sleepy
so surreal,
for a second, I thought how glorious it would be
just to dive right down there,
into the harbour,
to immerse myself, completely
within this wonderous, New York dream..........
