I saw the moon set, the stars too,
Wondered if others shared my view.
The view relaxed and humbled me,
“I am not the center of the galaxy? ”
Each star shines just as bright for all,
Realized that we are so incredibly small.
Japan to Iran, same stars for each,
The same earth under our feet.
Daily, caught up in our “ever so important” concerns,
“What car, what school, what job, what will I earn? ”
I learned then, we must live for the moment,
Live for each moment, and own it.
The best times in life happen when we smile,
The point of living is to make life worthwhile.
We worry now, to be happy later,
Never realizing that now was once a later.
A later that was meant to be savored,
Instead missed and never able to be flavored.
My fear is that we blindly plan each upcoming day,
And one day we’ll wake up and notice we planned our life away.
We hurry to get to where we want to be,
Then want to get back home, just as quickly.
Life isn’t the destination, it’s the drive,
Enjoying the ride is what makes us feel alive.
We live as if our goal is to get from point A to point B,
If we don’t wake up, we’ll miss the whole journey.
We all try to plan out life,
Never will it go just right.
But before we question why it didn’t go our way,
Look at the stars, understand that we get to live EACH day
