Jungles have eyes which constantly
observe the humans who intrude
upon their ancient secrecy.
The local natives understood.
The jungle can enforce its laws.
Men must obey or they will die.
But when the strangers came of course
they argue and they question why.
They think they know a better way
for after all they’re civilised.
They do not know that they are prey
until at last they are surprised
by some indigent predator.
They satisfy the appetite
of a successful carnivore.
Who kills because it is his right.
He has to prey before his feed
as he has always done before.
Like all the others of his breed
obedient to jungle law.
The strangers came but they were lost
far from their normal habitat.
Ignored the rules and paid the cost.
Fast food for a hungry jungle cat.
