Shine a light on my heart
For my soul has begun to dim
I’m trying to survive
Because I’m destined to win
Another day lived
Is another day lost
And I will succeed
No matter the cost
You tell me to be patient
My better days await
But how can anyone say that,
When only gods knows my faith
Throw at me what you will
I shall shed no tears
My eyes have developed calluses
And dried over the years
Don’t let your fears
Be the voice from which you give me hope
Let me live my life
And maybe with your fears
I shall help you cope
Although young
My experiences have given me
More sense then I get credit for
You may frown upon my age,
But my intelligence you can’t ignore
I’m not asking for you to agree
With the choices I have made
Nor am I asking you to follow me
On the path I have laid
I believe if I follow my heart
The path ahead will clear
When your soul is content
There is nothing you should fear
In this game of life I play
I am bound by no rules
The road I travel
Is the road I choose.
