Jemarie Ragudo - How to Make Perfect Instant Coffee

First, you need a cup of hot water
They say it should be hot as hell
I don’t know, I haven’t been there
Let me just say it should be scalding hot
Like the burning desire of a surfer
To ride the perfect wave
Like the all consuming passion
Of a figure skater to do the triple jump
Then you add half teaspoon of coffee
The kind that releases an exotic aroma
When dissolved in hot water
Like pursuing a career or a dream
That quickens your pulse
And sets your heart ablaze
And of course, add enough sugar
Too much or too little ruins the taste
I say, just put enough
Like money or pleasure
Too much can rob the essence
Too little may blunt the senses
Now cream is an option for others
But it makes my coffee perfect
Without cream, it makes coffee
Black as a devil, and I don’t like devils
Whether real or imaginary
So I put cream, though it’s optional
Like compassion for the oppressed
And generosity to the needy
You can live without them
But they make life meaningful
So I put cream to my coffee
They say to strike while the iron is hot
I say drink while the coffee is hot
And thank the Lord for it.
