I lie awake at night imagining what it would be like
What it would be like to have you in my bed, next to me, with me
I picture you on your back, head tilted, resting on my pillow
I dream of you holding me close while my restless soul sleeps
Or maybe you staying awake until I drift off, silently watching me
I lie awake at night fantasizing, wanting to wake up naked next to you
To roll over and see your gorgeous sleepy blue eyes squinting at me
as you yawn a smile and say, “Good morning beautiful, ” and flop your
tired head back onto the pillow
What it would be like to wake up in your arms and eat pancakes in my
panties
Or maybe waking up face to face, breathing the same air, as one
To make sweet love at night, in the pale moon light, and wake up in sunshine
for good morning love making
I dream of you dreaming of me
Or maybe sleeping in your arms, your chest as my pillow
What it would be like to be wrapped in warm blankets with you by my side
To feel your gentle touch in the dark
I lie awake at night imagining…imagining you.
