Melissa Coventry - Lost gem on a dusty shelf..

2014-11-07 3 Dailymotion

A polished gem sits,
On a dusty self,
Hasn’t been seen in a century or so,
Lost behind lifeless ordainments,
Behind China dolls and a music box,
In a bedroom with high roof ceilings,
With one tall window that,
Revels shining sunlight,
Into an empty room and out through one door…

Fire place as a centre piece,
Master bed sets the scene…
But the room is empty
No life can be seen,
Except for a life portrait,
Of a girl on the wall
One can wonder, daughter,
Young mother, wife,
Or lost lover…

The furniture is covered with sheets,
The floors are wooden with large rugs,
Soften the beats of once heard footsteps
Long and graceful curtains play
In a small breeze,
That lifts the stale mist of stillness..
That stirs up the dust left untouched,
While light shines on a small gem,
Unseen by eyes for a century or so…
