dedicated to my friend Adrian from times past...
There's a chap wha bides in Tayport
an' anither in Dundee
but they are both my juniors
an' far tae young fer me
There's a doctor doon in Boreham
wha I met the ither week
an' although he's verra handsome
I hae turned the ither cheek.
Then again, I loe ma angel
wha helps me soothe my dreams
but despite oor close encounters
he does nae tie up ma seams.
There's a laddie lives by Eastbridge
sic a tender, sweet embrace
did we share a-tween us
till anither took ma space.
So I asked my angel 'tell me
am I far too auld or bent?
Is it true that ony guid folk
their Soul Mate to them is sent? '
Then a tiny birdie telt me
'Penny, fit's this a' aboot?
You don't need to seek a lover
till yer lover seeks you oot! '
But my friend today has asked me
'Come on, tell me, do...
Who is it that you fancy?
Is he Jock, or Jack or Clancy?
Does he dance the Highland dancy? '
I hae no idea
Do you?
