The blare of the alarm clock signals the new day
Jarred back to conscienceness but just barely
The sun isn't up yet and the pigeons are still sleeping
So why is it that I'm awake?
Oh yeah, it's Monday morning
Another week of the daily grind
Tempted to stay in bed another hour or two
But there are bills to pay, so I get up
Every day has it's 5AM
But none like Monday mornings
When it arrives you know it
The weekend is definitely over
5AM Monday morning is unavoidable
A doorway to a world of nine to five
Laying there thinking, it could be worse
At least I'm not unemployed
