Rhythm is the source of life
Basic to the throbbing flow
The tides respond on careful schedule
Our bodies flex as passions grow
Long ago I heard the pounding
Of rhythmic beaters on pure gold,
Turning out the wispy beauty
That gilded domes of history old.
All life responds to programmed rhythms,
The heart pumps out a steady beat,
The sun bursts forth on silent signal
And nature blooms with warming heat.
