We are in a denial
of our animal instincts
A Cloak of civilisation
Over the savage core
Reminded of the beast within
As it goes on a rampage
And leaves behind death and carnage
You asked how to chain the devil
How to mitigate the peril
Some said religion
They used it as a weapon
Some said philosophy
They made their own
Some said brotherhood
They left you disowned
In the larger scheme of nature
Life is an inconsequential probability
We would all be here
The actors in the system
Angels and demons playing our part
Forcing one other to reach the equilibrium
Peaceful if it is, thrive will we
In the other eventuality
Perish shall we
Nature would remain stone-faced
Looking at the probabilities
As they happen all over again
