There is a misty sky above
below silence exists
but for the rhythmic ker-plop
of the water beads
hitting the ground
They hang onto
bare branches
waiting park benches
eaves of
darkened buildings
Sated, swollen, fat
they start their
downward journey
each with a dream
each, if you listen,
with its own sound
Ker-plop, ker-plink
ker-plunk, ker-splat
alternating contact and
found objects echoing
creating tonal variations
where only silence exists
Symphonic instruments
supplied by nature's bounty
unheard by the sleeping masses
the streetlights
standing at attention
the only witnesses
