i know i need to go to work tomorrow
i know i will leave home at 8 am
i know it will be like just another day
i know i have to get ahead of the traffic
i know i need to fill that lonely blank cheque
i know i got to pay that telephone bill
i know i will still wear jeans to work
i know it's going to be blue again
i know i will have to beat the chill
there are things i know
big and small
visible and invisible
good and evil
and then there are things i do not know
things that will happen
things that will not happen
things that could have happened
i do not know the driver who will curse me
i do not know the crow that will bless my windshield
i do not know how many million germs will visit my lungs
i do not know if the idea will rise in my mind
i do not know what demons are holding it down
i do not know when they will release it
i do not know if my luck would fly at the lottery
i do not know how many hairs will say goodbye to my scalp
i do not know if a bullet has my name written on it
there are more things i do not know
than the things i know
i don't know if i am strange
or you are special
i also do not know if you are better
or i am worse
but one thing i know is that i was born
and one thing i won't know is that i have died
