I'd learned never to trust all fairy tales
The damsel in distress, castles, the prince
Not even the “happily ever after”s
Reckoned that I certainly knew better.
Nor did I believe that love moved mountains
'Cause it never really did anything
But put people powerless under its spell
Stripping them of spirit, till nothing is left.
When you loved me, I thought I had been wrong
That maybe we could change fate all along
We, too, had fallen for Love's cruel trap
Couldn't see that we were doomed from the start.
But alas, we didn't listen to Fate
And now here we are, bruised, battered insane
Refusing to believe that it's over
Hoping that somehow, we'd stay together.
But the truth hurts, no matter how we feel
What's not meant to be won't ever set us free
Why can't we get a dose of reality?
We never were, have never been, and never will be.
