Where should I wander?
As the shower’s now a storm,
Up past daunting darting lizards?
Past the fire ants as they swarm?
Where should I wander?
Past the path just barely seen?
Past the storm now stinging needles?
Far above the smell of green?
Where should I wander?
Toward the cliff now shining near?
Toward the frightening of the lightning?
To the heavens! Damn the fear!
Climbing higher now, I’m clinging,
With the path long lost below,
With the pungent feathers falling,
With no fear here that I know.
Crawling careful up the cliff face,
I can sense the summit near,
Thunder wrapping me with freedom,
Its God’s voice I clearly hear.
