Society As We Know It
I hate how this world is an ugly, evil place,
And how the devil has taken on a very new face.
Our world is in war
Of man against man
And just to win that war,
That guy will do whatever he can.
He'll make bombs that will blow away houses,
He'll make machine guns that riddle people's spouses.
Man will go out and shoot his own brother
To show off himself as a gang friend to another.
Man will go out and, just to make a buck,
Man will bet money on another man's luck.
Man will go and sell 'enchanted weed',
To forever plant in the buyer,
The addiction seed.
What happened to the world
When you could walk to church
See families huddled together
At a once common perch.
Now those families fight
With their guns and their knives
Feeding their hate
By taking each others lives.
Whatever happened
When Billy would go to school
Go get good grades for college
And not act like a fool.
Now instead, Billy has 'fun'
He smokes his pot and plays with his gun.
He said his first swear word at the age of seven,
And drank his first beer at the age of eleven.
Whatever happened
To the world of yesteryear?
When families would get together,
And minors stayed away from beer?
When modesty was best,
And abstinence was right
When people really cared
About another's plight.
I hope the devil burns away
Goes to hell and there he stay.
I feel sorry for this generation
Who will only know of the down-hill pace of degradation.
