Huddled like a hermit scribe
heiroglyphic scribbling
adorning napkins, notepads, and computer
the intricacies of offense and defense
schemed and simulated
many times over remembering
each Sunday's opponent
over and over the stick figures play
the energy of the crowd in his ears
as he attempts to find within himself
the elements of victory.
