Gravity's firm hold
Especially wearisome today
Sleep, the deepest sleep
Becomes a siren call
Put away tools
No need to work
Rest, it calls, rest
Yet family, wife, child
Duty, honor, Pride, even
Revive flagging sinew
Energize tired tendons
Into new found effort
To fight gravity
And the pillow's call.
