Begging is never beneath me
I'd beg you to stay
But I know you wouldn't care
You'd leave me anyway
And I danced a dance around you
We laughed and carried on
I fell all over you
And you took in the best of me
You packed it up
And now you've gone
I never learned the art of grudging,
Withholding, and pretending
I tell you the truth
I still want you
And forgiveness is the only bargain
on the table
I answered when you came knocking
At my door
Embraced you when you dropped
Your things
Glistening wet, regretful eyes
And you need say nothing
Your apologies have been accepted
Your shame can leave
It's got no place with you and me
I let you touch me
I did not fret
I let you dance all around me
I danced all about you too
You took in the best of me
And I take in the best of you
Home is where you're safest
But outside you found the truth
That home is where troubles are
Forgotten
It’s a place for me and you
