Never was asked of thee
to question a lonely soul
nor to bare witness
tear stained eyes
Never was expected
hope in fading star
nor such longing in silence
not to be
Never is demanded
greater than what it is
nor to believe it ever more
a dream
Never is pardoned
what we explore in shadow
nor to hope it could be
taken in blessing
Never will it be
it is not for us
nor will we ever be
in flesh as one
