A panda bear isn’t that large
not large enough to be a bear
you might think, but what if ––
What if ––
it were small enough
to fit into the palm of your outstretched hand
then give you a wink
wouldn’t that make you think ––
when all the time
it’s looking at you like a little bear.
What if ––
you wanted to sit in your favorite chair
and there it sat - in thoughtful repose-
a six inch tall lion
with a mane and all that
looking straight into your eyes
with a question of its own,
“Who are you, thinking of taking my chair? ”

I like to combine the arts. “Gentle Reminder” and “In Thoughtful Repose” are two paintings by Robert Lange. Both are featured in the September 2009 issue of American Art Collection magazine.
