As he looked up to the heavenly sky
Through a mist of gun shell smoke,
A tiny light with rays so bright
Brought a glimmer of hope.
Through the light he saw his loved ones
His children joyfully playing
And in the shadows of candlelight
He saw their mother praying.
He heard her voice, so sweet the sound
Praying to god above,
Please keep my husband safe dear Lord
Give him all my love.
Don't let him suffer and perish
In that land he dose not know,
Bring him safely back dear Lord
Because we love him so.
He looked back through the gun shell smoke
Up to heaven above,
He asked the Lord to hold her tight
And give her all his love.
He knew her prayer was all in vain
As he lay in tears of blood and pain,
Dear Lord he whispered with one last sigh
Please tell me this, tell me why?
